If you’re interested in beefing up your technology and teaching skills, BYTE (Build Your Technology and Teaching Expertise) Week provides plenty of opportunities. Sponsored by the Department of Instructional Improvement and Instructional Technologies, the Learning Resources Office, and University Libraries, BYTE Week is chock-full of workshops, which are free to George Mason faculty, staff, and graduate teaching assistants.
Workshops include instruction and tips for using Windows 98, Word 2000, Excel 2000, PowerPoint 2000, and Photoshop; creating web pages; creating effective research assignments; and using search engines more effectively. A schedule of BYTE Week workshops is available online.
Held from Monday, May 22, through Friday, May 26, workshops range in length from one to four hours although one workshop, “Getting Started with WebCT,” lasts a full day.
