The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Blood Challenge, the annual blood drive that pits Mason’s students, faculty and alumni against their counterparts from other universities in the CAA, will be held on Monday, Nov. 15.

Supported by President Alan Merten, Mason Athletics, Chipotle, Chick-fil-a, Jim McKay Chevrolet and 106.7 The FAN, 2010 might be the year that Mason takes the title from Drexel University, which has won the challenge for the past three years. In 2009, Drexel collected 866 units, which means Mason needs a lot of support to win this title.

Mason has never placed higher than fifth in the challenge.

The drive will be held in conjunction with Inova Blood Donor Services in the Johnson Center Dewberry Hall from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Schedule an appointment online at or call 1-866-BLOODSAVES (1-866-256-6372).

All donors will receive a Dr. Merten bobblehead and a “Are You My Type?” T-shirt.
