Tricia Shapiro, author of “Mountain Justice: Homegrown Resistance to Mountaintop Removal, for the Future of Us All,” will speak at Mason on Monday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Johnson Center, meeting room B.

Sponsored by Mason’s Environmental Action Group, the event is free and open to the university community.

In her book, Shapiro provides firsthand accounts of people living with mountaintop removal efforts and what they are trying to do to stop it. Over the past two years, authorities have reported hundreds of cases of anti-mountaintop removal civil disobedience. The author will discuss her book and a number of the specific accounts it highlights.
