Activities are as plentiful as falling leaves this upcoming weekend, and if you’re ready to catch some Mason spirit and feel some Patriot Pride, this might be your best opportunity all year.

With the Mason Family Tree—Family Weekend 2010 happening Oct. 15–17, you have your pick of great family-friendly entertainment. All the activities are open to Mason faculty and staff members and their families. The basic registration fee covers the ThinkFast! Gameshow, Family BBQ and the Family FunZone, as well as Pre-Mason Madness. And that’s just for starters — you can view a complete schedule and register online.

Mason Madness, the annual event that signifies the official tip-off to basketball season for the men’s and women’s basketball teams, happens on Friday, Oct. 15. Doors open at 9 p.m. and admission is free. Legendary New York City bucket drummer Peter Rabbit will perform at the event, along with special appearances from Doc Nix and the Green Machine, Masonettes, Mason Cheerleaders, Urbanknowlogy 101 and much more.

Other events happening this weekend include comedian Seth Meyers’ appearance at the Patriot Center on Saturday night at 8 p.m. Students, faculty and staff can purchase their tickets at discounted prices with their Mason ID card at the Patriot Center Box Office. Faculty and staff members can purchase up to four tickets at the discounted $15 rate.
