The fall 2010 convocation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. at the Mason Inn.

The entire campus community is invited to attend this year’s event at which President Alan Merten will provide an overview of the university’s priorities for the current academic year. Other speakers include Senior Vice President Maurice Scherrens and Associate Provost of Graduate Education Michelle Marks.

Attendees will be able to participate in a raffle for a free one-night stay with dinner for two at The Mason Inn. Also, as part of the convocation, tours of the Mason Inn will be provided from 2 to 3 p.m. and from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

To facilitate faculty, staff and students at the Fairfax Campus attending the convocation, the university will provide shuttle buses to and from the Mason Inn beginning at 2 p.m. and running until shortly after 5 p.m.

Approximately every 12–15 minutes, buses traveling around Patriot Circle will stop at the following pick-up and drop-off points: Mattapaoni River Lane (by Innovation Hall), Aquia Creek Lane, Chesapeake River Lane, Masonvale and Sandy Creek Way.

President Merten will welcome attendees and discuss the overall growth of Mason. Senior Vice President Scherrens will discuss the university’s current budget issues and Associate Provost Marks will give an overview of Mason’s academic advancements over the past year.

Refreshments will be served.
