George Mason’s softball team will be the No. 3 seed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament held at George Mason Field on May 13 and 14. This is the first-ever trip to the postseason for the Patriots, who finished the regular season with a 33 to 27 record. The Patriots are in the four-team double-elimination field along with No. 1 seed East Carolina University, No. 2 seed Dartmouth College, and No. 4 seed University of Albany.
“We are thrilled, excited, and confident,” says head coach Beth Fulcher. “Playing as an independent this season, participation in the ECAC championships was a goal of ours from the start. This is a first for the George Mason softball program and is the culmination of hard work and commitment by our players.”
The tournament semifinals begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, with East Carolina taking on Albany. At noon, George Mason plays Dartmouth in the other first-round semifinal match-up. At 2 p.m., the losers of the East Carolina/Albany and George Mason/Dartmouth contests match up, with the winners of those games playing each other at 4 p.m.
On Sunday, May 14, an elimination game begins at 10 a.m. with a second game at noon. If necessary, a third game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
