Tours of the Mason Inn will be available to all interested members of the university community as part of the upcoming 2010 fall convocation, set for Wednesday, Oct. 13, in the ballroom of this new facility.

Tours will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. and again from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for interested staff and faculty members and students. Persons planning to take advantage of this up-close perspective of the Mason Inn should simply report to the main lobby on Oct. 13.

At 3 p.m., President Alan Merten will welcome attendees in the ballroom and discuss Mason’s overall growth. Other speakers will be Michelle Marks, associate provost of graduate education, and Maurice Scherrens, senior vice president. Marks will give an overview of Mason’s academic advancement, while Scherrens will discuss budget issues.

Refreshments will be served at the convocation.

To facilitate faculty, staff and students at the Fairfax Campus attending the convocation, the university will provide shuttle buses to and from the Mason Inn beginning at 2 p.m. and running until shortly after 5 p.m.

Approximately every 12–15 minutes, buses traveling around Patriot Circle will stop at the following pick-up and drop-off points: Mattapaoni River Lane (by Innovation Hall), Aquia Creek Lane, Chesapeake River Lane, Masonvale and Sandy Creek Way.

Mason community members at the Arlington and Prince William Campuses will be able to participate in the convocation via videoconferencing.
