TIAA-CREF, one of Mason’s financial retirement vendors, is hosting the Raise the Rate contest to spread awareness about the U.S. personal savings rate and raise it by 10 percent in the next two years.

For the contest, TIAA-CREF is offering a $25,000 endowment to the university that comes up with the most ideas on how to increase the personal savings rate. Mason is currently leading the board with more than 150 entries, but the University of Utah is not far behind.

With less than a week to go to the Sept. 20 deadline, everyone in the Mason community is urged to submit their ideas and bring home the prize.

Individuals can also win the $50,000 grand prize for submitting a groundbreaking idea.

Go to raisetheratecontest.org to submit your idea.
