Associate Provost for General Education Sought

The provost invites applications and nominations for the position of associate provost for general education at George Mason University. The associate provost for general education will be a member of the provost’s senior staff and will be responsible, in close cooperation with faculty committees on general education, for providing leadership, vision, and direction to the university’s general education program.
The associate provost will work closely with deans, associate deans, and faculty members, and will serve as chair of the curriculum committee charged with establishing criteria for courses eligible to satisfy each of the requirements of the general education program. This administrative faculty position will be full time with an expectation that the incumbent will teach at least one course each semester as part of this assignment. In addition, the incumbent may assist the Office of the Provost with other academic duties. The initial appointment will be for three fiscal years.
Prospective candidates must be tenured faculty members at George Mason University, preferably with administrative experience and extensive knowledge of the university’s undergraduate curriculum. The desired starting date is July 1.
