Run-DMC headlines a group of eight bands performing today to celebrate Mason Day. The rap group performs at 5 p.m. on the main stage on the Quad.

The musical extravaganza kicks off at 11 a.m. with the JCJ Band on the main stage, followed by Fighting Gravity at noon. Jonassay takes over at 1 p.m. on the side stage, and the main stage is occupied again at 2 p.m. by Bargain Music. Don’t Panic follows at 3 p.m. on the side stage, and Allure performs at 3:30 p.m. on the main stage. Practically Einstein plays at 4:30 p.m. on the side stage before Run-DMC caps off the day.

Run-DMC releases its eighth album, Crown Royal, later this year and is best known for its 1986 hits, “It’s Tricky” and “Walk this Way” (performed with Aerosmith).

Other activities today include a 25 percent discount on all games in the SUB I Game Room and a film and media studies program from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Johnson Center Multipurpose Room.

Because of safety and traffic concerns, Chesapeake Lane, Pohick Lane (beyond Thompson Hall from the Aquia Lane intersection), the SUB I parking lot, and the motorcycle lot are all closed today.
