University Life’s Office of LGBTQ Resources and Safe Zone Training Team have announced that the next Safe Zone training is set for Monday, Aug. 9.
This summer training runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and will be in the Johnson Center Third Floor Meeting Room G on the Fairfax Campus.
The Safe Zone program helps lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) students, staff and faculty identify allies who are safe listeners, advocates and resources.
After completing the training, allies can choose to obtain and post a Safe Zone symbol to be visibly identified as a Safe Zone. Beyond supporting the health and safety of individual LGBTQ students, faculty and staff, the Safe Zone program helps to create a safer and more welcoming campus culture at Mason.
This training is recommended for all faculty and staff members, as well as students, who interact with others in an advisory, teaching, service or leadership capacity.
