Starting a Twitter or Facebook Account? Check Out These Guidelines First

For many people, social media has become ingrained into both their personal and professional lives. Sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are used frequently by faculty and staff members, departments, organizations and programs at Mason.
With that in mind, the Office of Media and Public Relations developed Social Media Guidelines to help individuals interested in taking advantage of these free sites.
Because social media channels are fairly new to many employees, the guidelines are intended as a starting point, and offer tips and tricks on how to promote an organization or department through social networking.
The guidelines represent “best practices” culled from respected online and industry sources to help employees use these forums effectively, protect their personal and professional reputations and follow university policies.
