One month into TIAA-CREF’s “Raise the Rate” contest to encourage ideas that will increase the U.S. personal savings rate to 10 percent in two years, Mason stands in second place among colleges and universities.

Read all about the contest in a previous Gazette article, but note there is one important change: TIAA-CREF has extended the deadline to Sept. 20, 2010.

The college or university that submits the most ideas will win a $25,000 endowment. Individual prizes range from $1,000 to $50,000.

To submit your great idea, visit the Raise the Rate Facebook page and keep your eye on the leader board.
