Patriot Computers holds a “Call to Protect” wireless phone collection campaign April 1 to 15 to collect phones for victims of domestic violence. The Wireless Foundation will give donated phones to victims in need, while generating additional resources to support the National Coalition against Domestic Violence and “Call to Protect.”
Wireless phones of all makes, models, and ages are accepted, no matter the size, appearance, or condition. Newer phones in good condition will be recycled and distributed to victims. They will be programmed for 911 service only, and telephone companies will donate the necessary airtime. Phones that are very old or in need of serious repair will be sold, with proceeds used to support domestic violence programs.
Drop off phones with their accessories at Patriot Computers in the Johnson Center, Room 115, during normal business hours, or send the phones via campus mail to Patriot Computers, MS 5C5. Phones also will be collected on Mason Day, April 27. To get a tax receipt for your donation, include a written request with your name and address taped to the phone.
