Thanks to an agreement between University Computing and Information Systems (UCIS) and Microsoft Corp., faculty and staff members will soon be able to use some of the same software on their personal system as they use on their George Mason-owned system.
Provided it is used for university business, the following UCIS-supported software is covered by the site license agreement with Microsoft: Windows 95 and 98 workstation operating system upgrades and Microsoft Office (Standard, Professional, and Macintosh editions). Although the following software is not yet supported by UCIS, the agreement also covers Windows NT Workstation and Windows 2000 Professional, as well as FrontPage Windows Edition and FrontPage Macintosh Edition.
Faculty and staff members will be able to purchase the site-licensed software for a nominal charge from Patriot Computers in the Johnson Center, Room 115. Limited copies of the same software will also be available for checkout from the University Libraries at the Arlington, Fairfax, and Prince William Campuses at no charge.
For more information about software that is covered under the Microsoft site-license agreement, send e-mail to email@example.com.
