Office of Sponsored Programs Reports Increase in Grant, Contract Activity

According to figures from the Office of Sponsored Programs, the university’s new awards and increments totaled $20.5 million between July and December 1999–an increase of more than $3 million from the same six-month period in 1998, when new awards totaled $17.4 million.

Following is a breakdown of the academic units responsible for this influx of funds: School of Information Technology and Engineering, $4.6 million; Institute for Computational Sciences and Informatics, $4.2 million; The Institute of Public Policy, $3.6 million; Graduate School of Education, $2.8 million; College of Arts and Sciences, $2.4 million; Krasnow Institute, $869,000; College of Nursing and Health Science, $687,000; Institute for Biosciences, Bioinformatics, and Biotechnology, $462,000; Academic Affairs (including Continuing Professional Education), $220,000; School of Law, $173,000; Information Technology, $138,000; University Life, $43,000; Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, $20,000; and New Century College, $16,000.
