The Mason Faculty Senate sent an e-mail last week to all faculty members urging them to take action regarding nondiscrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

At its April 7 meeting, the Faculty Senate passed a resolution that calls upon the Virginia General Assembly to add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the Virginia Human Rights Act (Section 2.2-3900 B.1).

The Faculty Senate’s Executive and External Academic Relations committees also encourage individual faculty members to take the following actions:

  • Write their senator and delegate, as a private individual, not as a university representative, in support of nondiscrimination
