Golfers have two opportunities in June to play and raise money for scholarships at the same time.
Diversity Golf Classic
University Life will sponsor the Diversity Golf Classic on Friday, June 11, at the South Riding Golf Club in South Riding, Va.
Registration begins at 7 a.m.; shotgun start is at 8 a.m.; and the live auction and awards luncheon is at 1 p.m. Different levels of sponsorship are available.
This exciting fund-raising event supports Mason’s diverse student population by funding diversity programs and scholarships at Mason. See the 2010 brochure online.
As in previous years, the Golf Classic helps fund diversity programs and scholarships at Mason, such as University Life’s Student Transition and Empowerment Program (STEP) and Early Identification Program – initiatives that provide academic preparation, cultural awareness, career exploration, service learning and personal empowerment programs to students ranging from the 8th grade to Mason first-generation college students.
Last year, more than 50 corporations raised nearly $20,000 in student scholarships. In 2009, seven Mason students who graduated from the Early Identification Program received scholarships from corporate sponsors Lockheed Martin, QinetiQ North America and StudentVoice.
