Middle East Studies Program Presents Talk on ‘Obama Doctrine’

The Middle East Etc. Film Club and Middle East Studies Program will present “Obama Doctrine: The New President’s Record in the Middle East,” a talk by As`ad AbuKhalil, professor of political science at California State University Stanislaus and visiting professor at the University of California, Berkeley, on Thursday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m.

The talk will be presented in Mason Hall, Edwin Meese III Conference Room, on the Fairfax Campus.

AbuKhalil will analyze President Barack Obama’s policies and wars in the Middle East and the extent to which the Bush doctrine differs or overlaps with the Obama doctrine. The talk will also analyze Middle Eastern reactions to Obama, particularly from the Arab world.

AbuKhalil is the author of “Historical Dictionary of Lebanon” (1998), “Bin Laden, Islam and America’s New ‘War on Terrorism’” (2002), and “The Battle for Saudi Arabia” (2004). He maintains one of the prominent blogs on the Middle East, The Angry Arab News Service.
