Child Development Center Sponsors Parenting Workshops

The Child Development Center (CDC), in conjunction with its Parent Advisory Board, is conducting the following workshops in March and April. The workshops are open to the general public, and the cost is $5 per family. For more information, call Annette Carr at x33670.
On Saturday, March 25, Virginia Inglese and Kathlene Dore present “Helping Children Connect with Their Nutritional Needs” from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Johnson Center, Room C. The workshop features topics such as “Developing a Positive Relationship with Food,” “Healthy After-School Snacks,” “School Lunch Ideas,” and “Tips for Picky Eaters.”
On Thursday, April 13, Karen Scudder of the Fairfax County Community Services Board presents “Kindergarten Readiness” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Johnson Center, Room G. Topics include “How to Tell if a Child Is Ready,” “Skills a Child Should Bring to Kindergarten,” and “Helping Children Make the Transition.”
On Saturday, April 29, Kathleen Skilton presents “Positive Strategies for Parenting Toddlers and Preschoolers” from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Johnson Center, Room B. Topics include “Encouraging Positive Behavior” and “Parenting a Bright, Strong-Willed, Shy, or Middle/Second Child,” and the presentation includes specific techniques to take home.
