Senior All-American Maurice Wignall earned two additional All-America honors at the 2000 National Collegiate Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships held last week in Fayetteville, Ark., finishing his Patriot career as a seven-time All-American.

Wignall, the 1999 indoor long jump national champion, entered the long jump competition as the sixth seed and was unable to repeat as champion. He finished fifth with a leap of 25 feet, 1-3/4 inches. Arkansas’ Melvin Lister, entering competition in his home stadium as the top seed, won with a 26-foot, 8-1/2-inch jump.

Immediately following the long jump finals, Wignall competed in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, placing fourth in 7.72 seconds, just .004 seconds off the third-place finisher. South Carolina junior Terrance Trammell repeated as the winner in 7.55 seconds.
