At its monthly meeting yesterday, the Board of Visitors (BOV) called for a public hearing to be held soon on the issue of general education requirements. The Faculty and Academic Standards Committee of the BOV discussed two proposals for general education requirements, one proposed by Visitor John Herrity and one proposed by Provost Peter Stearns and approved by the Faculty Senate. Both proposals are to be considered at the upcoming public hearing.
In other action, the board approved, with minor revisions, the report that Stearns submitted regarding the integration of New Century College with the College of Arts and Sciences, which takes place July 1.
