Economics Department Holds Memorial for Howard Bloch

The Department of Economics holds a memorial service for Howard Bloch on Monday, March 20, from 3 to 5 p.m., in the Concert Hall, third-floor balcony. Faculty, staff, and students are invited.
Bloch, a George Mason economics professor for 30 years, died on Jan. 25 from a brain tumor at the age of 63. He came George Mason in 1969–the first year the economics degree was offered through what was then the Social Sciences Department. At George Mason, Bloch served as the Economics Department’s director of undergraduate studies and also was the advisor to the Economics Club.
Bloch, who was born in Germany, received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his Ph.D. from Princeton.
