University Mourns Death of ITU Employee Earl Allen

Earl F. Allen Jr., Information Technology Unit Support Center specialist, passed away on Wednesday, March 3. He had cancer.
Allen had been a Mason employee for nearly 12 years.
According to his supervisor, Teresa Gibbons, ITU Support Center manager, Allen was a valued employee who had received numerous letters of appreciation from the customers he has supported over the years. He also received many Impact awards. In 2005, he was named the ITU Employee of the Month, and in 2006 he was awarded the University Exceptional Support Award. He completed the HR Supervisor Series in 2009.
“Earl Allen was an extraordinary man,” says Gibbons. “He was essential to the smooth running of the ITU Support Center. Earl’s calm demeanor allowed him to alleviate customer concerns when they would call with a computer problem. His ‘let’s just do what we need to do’ attitude exemplified superior customer service.
“He also was a loving father, husband and friend who will be greatly missed.”
Allen is survived by his wife, Sylvia; four daughters, Brittney Allen, Ivorie Jones, Shareese Davis and Tammy Hardy; four sons, Tauheed Maddox, Deondary Maddox, Tony Allen and Cochise Allen; and three grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Ames Funeral Home, 8914 Quarry Road, Manassas, VA 20110. Another viewing will be held Friday, March 12, from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Manassas, 9258 Center St., Manassas, VA 20110. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. The burial will be at Quantico Marine Base.
