Police, Information Services Partner to Improve Arlington Information Desks

University Police and Arlington Information Services are joining forces in an effort to increase the visibility of the information desks and to make the campus more user-friendly to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Starting this month, the information desks, located in each of the two campus buildings, are staffed from 7 p.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday, by student escorts who are trained to answer general questions about the campus as well as to escort members of the university community between buildings and parking lots.



“The goal is to enhance service after hours–to provide a one-stop shopping kiosk where people can get information, share information, and learn about the area,” says Lt. Norman Barnes, University Police/Arlington Campus. “At the same time, they know where to go to contact the police.”



Future initiatives include installing campus phones at each information desk and refurbishing the desks to enhance their appearance.
