Over the next few weeks, the Virginia General Assembly and the governor will be addressing the legislative agenda, including the commonwealth’s budget. During this time, there will be a number of proposals raised that will impact Mason. University administration would like you to know that Mason is actively involved in this process and has representatives in Richmond monitoring the discussion and addressing the interests of Mason, its faculty and staff and the higher education community.
A budget forum is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 9 a.m. in the Johnson Center Cinema on the Fairfax Campus to keep the community apprised of the latest information on this timely and profoundly important topic. The forum will be broadcast at the Arlington and Prince William Campuses.
Provost Peter Stearns and Senior Vice President Morrie Scherrens will provide an update on the state’s budget situation; the anticipated implications for George Mason University over the next 12 to 24 months; and a recap of some of the measures that have already been taken.
Administration appreciates your patience and fortitude during this challenging and constantly evolving time.
