Clinton’s Deputy Chief of Staff Visits Fairfax Campus

Maria Echaveste, assistant to President Clinton and deputy chief of staff, and Roger Wilkins, Robinson Professor of History and American Culture, are the guest speakers at “Latinas and Blacks: A Conversation between Friends,” sponsored by the Women’s Studies and African American research and resource centers on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 4:30 p.m. in the SUB II Ballroom.
Echaveste, who has been deputy chief of staff since 1998, manages policy initiatives, develops legislative and communications strategies for the White House, and coordinates the selection of senior administration appointments. She holds a B.A. from Stanford and a J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.
Wilkins served as assistant attorney general during the Johnson administration. He also has written for both the New York Times and the Washington Post, and was the past chairman of the Pulitzer Prize Board.
