Mason’s Center for Leadership and Community Engagement is collaborating with Volunteer Fairfax to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. by organizing Give Together: A Family Volunteer Day on Monday, Jan. 18.

Mason families and members of the wider community are invited to participate in service projects that will benefit local nonprofit organizations FACETS, Fairfax 4‐H, the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia and the Orphan Foundation of America.

Projects are geared toward elementary school-aged children and their parents, but may be suitable for younger children with parental supervision. Activities will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Johnson Center Dewberry Hall. Families will be able to participate in multiple small service projects. Register at www.volunteerfairfax.org.

Volunteers are also needed to assist with registration, support the volunteer projects and welcome and assist families as they navigate the event. Two volunteer shifts are available. Shift 1 is 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Shift 2 is noon to 3:30 p.m. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, contact Samantha Watson at swatson@volunteerfairfax.org or call 703-246-3826.
