Once again, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine has named Mason to its national top “100 Best Values in Public Colleges 2009-10” list. Mason is ranked 64th for in-state students and 95th for out-of-state students.

Kiplinger’s bases the rankings of public colleges on “a combination of academics and affordability.”

Measures of academic quality cited are SAT or ACT scores, admission and retention rates, student-faculty ratios and four- and six-year graduation rates.

The magazine then ranks each school based on cost and financial aid. The magazine stated that academic quality carried more weight than costs in its scoring system.

The full list is in the February 2010 issue of the magazine.
