With the last finals scheduled for Dec. 18, soon everyone at Mason will scatter for the winter break.
The university will be closed and in lock-down mode from 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, through 6 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010.
However, in the meantime, there’s still time to
- Take advantage of the 20 percent off Campus Appreciation Event at the University Bookstore. Show your Mason ID to receive a discount off purchases of Mason gear and gifts (some exclusions apply). The event continues through Dec. 19 during regular business hours: Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Contribute to the Toys for Tots and Food Drives (see the Mason Gazette article for details)
- Participate in Mini-Flex, Dec. 21-23. Mini-Flex is a chance for eligible salaried employees to try out telework by working from home. Important details, including how to participate, are available on the Human Resources Work/Life Flexible Work page.
- Attend holiday parties: the Faculty and Staff Holiday Party will be held on Thursday, Dec. 17, in the Johnson Center Dewberry Hall from 2:30 to 5 p.m.; the Mason Enterprise Center’s Jingle, Mix & Mingle will be held on Friday, Dec. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. MEC is part of the School of Public Policy, and the event provides an opportunity to celebrate the holidays with the small business community. The center is off campus in Fairfax City at 4031 University Drive, Suite 200. Register at www.sbdc.org.
Happy holidays! Students return to campus for the spring semester on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010.
