Meryl Secrest, author of numerous highly acclaimed biographies, discusses her work in the Johnson Center Cinema on Tuesday, Feb. 15, from 4:30 to 7:10 p.m. Stephen Douglas Burton, Heritage Chair in Music, arranged the discussion with the Music Department for his class, American Musical Theater.

Secrest wrote the authorized biography of Stephen Sondheim, and also has written biographies on Leonard Bernstein, Frank Lloyd Wright, Salvador Dali, Kenneth Clark, Bernard Berenson, and Romaine Brooks. She currently is working on the first biography of Richard Rodgers–the only book authorized by Rodgers’ family since his autobiography in 1975.

Burton invites anyone interested in the past, present, and future of American musical theater to attend this free presentation.
