The School of Art graduating class is presenting a thesis event titled “mapping {new/a/non/no} = place/space.” The group show of more than 30 students will open on Friday, Dec. 11, and continue through Sunday, Dec. 13.

On Dec. 11, opening night festivities will run from 6 p.m. to midnight. In addition to the art exhibitions, there will be food and musical performances by Solomon Solomon, Pollock and Lithia Corsica.

This is the first time since the visual arts program began in 1972 that students in the senior thesis class will come together for a three-day group festival. The class and festival is the culmination of each student’s time spent at Mason and is the final project before they earn a BFA or BA.

Artists exhibiting include Jacob Lear, Genesis Banzuelo, Christopher Boek, Paul Merced, Michael Forster, Brent Nieder, Kristen Mitchell, Nestor Zerpa, Thomas Nutt, Daniel Dean, Shannon McCarty, Addison Bender, Marian McLaughlin, Jesse Trask, Laura Rogers, Sarah Saadoun, Joshua Burton, Rusty Canny, Matt Casey, Deborah Rose Guterbock, Stephanie Lins, Krzysztof Paleczka, Caitlin McNabb, Jordan Moss, John Uthoff and Rosemarie Kerveros.

The School of Art offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in art, with concentrations in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, critical art practices (CAP), graphic design, photography and digital arts. The undergraduate BA and BFA degree programs prepare students for graduate study and professional work in the visual cultural field.
