H1N1 Flu Shot Available at Fairfax Campus on Nov. 19

The H1N1 inactivated influenza vaccine, the flu shot, is now available to all Mason students, faculty and staff who are 18 years of age and older.

Student Health Services (SHS) will administer the vaccine at the Fairfax Campus on Thursday, Nov. 19.

The vaccine is available on a walk-in basis from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Union Building II Ballroom, while supplies last.

The vaccine is free, but a Mason ID is required.

In addition, SHS highly recommends that the following groups receive the vaccine:

  • Pregnant women
  • People who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months of age
  • Health care and emergency medical personnel
  • Anyone with certain chronic medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, or kidney disease) or a weakened immune system caused by cancer, cancer treatment, HIV/AIDS or medicine.

Who may not receive the H1N1 inactivated influenza vaccine, the flu shot:

  • People with a severe (life-threatening) allergy to eggs.
