Writing Center, Career Services Celebrate National Day on Writing

In honor of the National Day on Writing, Oct. 20, the Mason Writing Center is teaming up with Career Services to provide workshops and individual tutoring for students on what is perhaps the most crucial writing being done right now: resumes and cover letters.
On Oct. 20, the following free workshops are offered:
Career Services Resume and Cover Letter Writing Workshop
12:15 to 1:45 p.m.
Career Library: Student Union Building I, Room 348
One-on-One Resume and Cover Letter Assistance
2 to 4 p.m.
Writing Center: Robinson Hall A, Room 114
Bring your resume and/or cover letter for individual help.
Also, stop by the booth outside of Robinson Hall A to celebrate the National Day on Writing with some snacks and writing tips.
Other Writing Center workshops this month:
Oct. 20, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
You will learn how to evaluate sources for credibility and usefulness and how to summarize, paraphrase and quote from sources. Other topics include sorting through your research and figuring out how to use your sources effectively.
Oct. 21, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
You will learn how to formulate effective thesis statements and integrating supportive evidence for research papers or any other writing assignment.
Oct. 22, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
You will learn about using transitions to make your research paper flow, as well as self-editing techniques.
Grammar Workshop #1
Oct. 27, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
You will learn the parts of speech as well as how to avoid common grammatical errors.
