The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) has approved competitive grants totaling nearly $1 million for Virginia’s public and private colleges and universities and eligible nonprofit organizations to support projects that contribute to the professional development of K-12 public school teachers in mathematics and science.
George Mason University is one of the ten science project recipients. The university’s “Measurement Skills in Science and Mathematics, Grades 4-8” is being awarded $41,651.
These funds approved by SCHEV are the 2000-2001 awards funded by the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act for the Eisenhower Professional Development Program, which the agency administers for Virginia.
