Dining Services Provides Healthy Choices for the New Century

Chances are, if you made any New Year’s resolutions earlier this month, there is one at the top of your list screaming, “Eat Healthier.” In fact, according to a customer survey last fall, the university community rated healthier dining options as one of its top four considerations for dining on campus. Dining Services has the solution for this resolution.

Start your mornings off on the right foot with the Bistro’s new “Smart-Start” all-you-can-eat breakfast bar, available from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. every weekday. The “Smart-Start” bar provides a variety of fresh fruits with antioxidant power, low-fat yogurt and cottage cheese rich in calcium, peanut butter and hard-boiled eggs for high-protein fuel, and low-fat granola and “Smart-Start” cereal for fiber and minerals. Egg white and Eggbeater omelets also are available, and much more.

After your nutritious breakfast, stop by the Food Court and grab one of the six new, delicious wraps for lunch or dinner. The Turkey Teri-wrappy, for example, is a low-fat wrap featuring turkey, teriyaki sauce, pineapple, and water chestnuts. Other wraps include Hummus (vegan), Greek (vegetarian), Roast Radi-wrappy, Pesto (vegetarian), and Cobb. Dining Services hopes you will enjoy these new options. Here’s to a healthier century.
