In a letter to Board of Visitors rector Edwin Meese, Gov. James Gilmore congratulated George Mason’s Board of Visitors for its initiative in establishing a School of Public Policy at the university.
“With its focus on the international, national, and regional arenas, as well as policy relating to science and technology, the school will provide a highly desirable research center and public forum on some of the most crucial issues that face the nation and Virginia in the new millennium,” Gilmore said. “This new school will enable George Mason to fulfill a critical part of its mission by creating a pre-eminent public policy center in the national capital region…. I anticipate that the new school will receive considerable support from government and industry, as well as the citizens of Northern Virginia.”
