Last semester in a graduate writing workshop taught by English professor Carolyn Forche-Mattison, creative writing student Liam Callanan wrote what Forche-Mattison called “a very moving memoir.” Callanan was later invited by National Public Radio’s Morning Edition to read the segment of the story he titled “Babyland.” Just four days before Christmas, he read the three-minute piece about the cemetery where his infant daughter is buried and how parents place toys at the gravesites during the holiday season.

Callanan’s story is posted on the Morning Edition archive; scroll down and click on “Babyland.”
