Kelly Lawler of The Institute of Public Policy (TIPP) has been chosen as the new year’s first employee of the month. As the enrollment services assistant of the International Commerce and Policy (ICP) program within TIPP, she is often the first point of contact for prospective students. Her responsibilities include working with students to solve scheduling conflicts and grade issues.
“Kelly has been invaluable in providing students with ‘face-to-face’ contact and never hesitates to go the extra mile to help a student,” says ICP program coordinator Nancy Campbell.
Lawler says working with people is her favorite part of her job. “It is nice to work in an atmosphere where people are always coming and going,” she says.
Her colleagues describe Lawler as a “do-it-all person” who “has demonstrated extraordinary initiative under what can only be described as extremely difficult circumstances.” She completed her own job-related tasks in addition to the work of others last summer when several of her colleagues were absent. In addition, she oversaw the move of the ICP program to the Original Building on the Arlington Campus last March, and she organized a problem-free graduation ceremony for ICP graduates in May.
