Alumna Amber Foster, Information Services, has been selected as December’s Employee of the Month. Foster has been working in various positions and offices around the university since she became a student here seven years ago.
In her current position as the Johnson Center Information Desk shift supervisor, Foster has been commended for her incredible flexibility and willingness to switch shifts, come in on days off, and work long late night hours to ensure adequate coverage at the information desk.
“Customer service is a top priority for Amber. She uses her strong knowledge of the university in assisting our patrons in a very thorough manner,” says Mary Lee May, Johnson Center Information Desk supervisor. Bobbie Fuller, manager of Information Services, agrees. “When clients come to the information desk or call with questions, Amber’s skills in finding the root of their question and providing complete, accurate, and timely information are at an extremely professional level,” she says.
Foster says she has enjoyed the unconditional support from her supervisors, and says her “awesome colleagues” are among the most dedicated to the university.
In May 1997, Foster was part of New Century College’s first graduating class. She hopes to pursue a master’s degree at George Mason and has taken some graduate level course work as an extended studies student. Foster hopes to go into academic advising here at George Mason. “I just love George Mason,” she says. “I loved it when I was a student, and it is a great place to work. The campus is beautiful and I love the building I work in.”
