Mason Faculty Members Mentor Undergraduate Apprentices in Summer Term

Fifteen faculty members will mentor 15 Mason undergraduates in the competitive Undergraduate Apprenticeship Program for the summer 2009 term. The program matches students with faculty mentors to work on a creative or scholarly project.

The mentors, their students and projects are

Maggie Daniels, mentor for Tessa Lynn Cohen, tourism and events management, “The Factors Influencing Wedding Reception Venue Selection in the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Area.”

Monique van Hoek, mentor for Kenny S. Cruz, biology, “Effect of an Anti-Microbial Mg-analog upon Francisella.”

Arnauld Nicogossian, mentor for Nelya Ebadirad, biology, “Evidence-Based Medical and Health Policy Formulation.”

Suzanne Slayden, mentor for Svetlana Makarova, chemistry and psychology, “Correlation of Voltammetric Oxidation Potentials with Ionization Energies of Substituted Naphthalenes Obtained from an AM1 Computational Study Using the COSMO Solvation Continuum.”

Rob Cressman, mentor for Aazim Siddiqui, information technology, “The Influence of Glial Strength on the Onset of High Potassium Induced Epileptic Seizures.”

Padmanabhan Seshaiyer, mentor for S. Minerva Venuti, mathematics, “Modeling, Analysis and Computation of Fluid Structure Interaction Models for Biological Systems.”
