Carol Swigart, assistant director of Alumni Affairs, loads bags into the Interstate van for the third annual Patriot Pack Out. The initiative collects items that students no longer need at the end of the semester and donates them to local charities. Twenty-four volunteers staffed the effort this year, and the university donated a record 1,635 pounds of food to Food for Others and 6,765 pounds of clothing and small appliances to the Clock Tower Thrift Shop in Falls Church, which benefits Northern Virginia Family Services.
