Michael Behrmann, Graduate School of Education, recently was named endowed director of the Helen A. Kellar Institute for Human disAbilities. Behrmann, who joined George Mason’s faculty in 1979 as part of its special education programs, previously carried the title of director of the institute. He also coordinates the Graduate School of Education’s instructional technology programs.
In December 1998, Arthur and Elizabeth Kellar of Fairfax gave $3.2 million to George Mason. The gift was designated for the Center for Human disAbilities, which was renamed the Helen A. Kellar Institute after their daughter. The institute’s mission is to improve the lives and productivity of children and adults with disabilities in Northern Virginia, the Washington metropolitan area, and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
