Four members of the Mason softball team were recognized by the Colonial Athletic Association on May 5 for their outstanding performance in the 2009 season.
Junior Becky Anderson was named to the All-CAA First Team, freshman Miranda Cranford earned All-CAA second team honors and freshmen Morgan Davis and Alyssa See were both placed on the All-Rookie Team.
This marks the second time in Anderson’s career she has been selected to the first team, as the Oakton, Va., native earned the award in the designated player/pitcher position.
Anderson anchored the Mason pitching staff as she appeared in a conference-high 32 games, 26 as a starter, and amassed a 2.51 ERA and 8-22 record. Her ERA ranked eighth in the conference, while she was fourth in strikeouts (100) and second in complete games (22).
Anderson also batted .239 on the season with 12 RBIs, seven doubles and a home run, and was named the CAA Pitcher of the Week on March 3.
Cranford, who was selected to the same position as Anderson, earned second-team honors in her first year with the Green and Gold. The Escondido, Calif., native finished the year with a 7-8 record and 3.21 ERA in 24 appearances with 19 starts. She also led the team offensively with five home runs and was second among Mason players with 20 RBIs. Cranford was recognized as the CAA’s Rookie of the Week on Feb. 24.
Davis, of Vienna, Va., was named to the All-Rookie team as a catcher/infielder. She batted .278, second among teammates, with 19 RBIs, seven doubles and four home runs, and her slugging percentage of .489 was highest on the team.
See batted .254 with 10 RBIs, and drew 13 walks as she started in all 49 of the Patriots’ games, the lone member of the team to do so.
