The annual Hunger Banquet is held in the Johnson Center Multipurpose Room on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m. A Hunger and Homelessness Action Week event, the Hunger Banquet educates the community about the effects of world hunger. The meal dramatizes the unequal distribution of resources that lie at the root of world hunger.

The event is sponsored by the Center for Service and Leadership, New Century College, and Oxfam America, an organization dedicated to creating lasting solutions to hunger, poverty, and social injustice through long-term partnerships with poor communities around the world. Bernice Romero, senior policy advisor for Oxfam, gives the keynote address, followed by dinner and a dramatization of the distribution of the world’s wealth and hunger.

The cost is $3 or 3 canned goods, which will be used to support the area’s homeless and Oxfam America. For more information or tickets, contact the Center for Service and Leadership at x32900, or send e-mail to leadserv@gmu.edu.
