Tau Sigma National Honor Society is Mason’s first honor society for transfer students. One hundred and five students accepted membership this spring.
“The Tau Sigma National Honor Society is a society for students that have transferred from one institution (or institutions) to another and have made high academic achievement during their first term,” says Frances L. Herrity, Tau Sigma’s academic advisor and co-director of the Transfer Center.
The purpose of the organization, as stated in its constitution is: “To recognize the academic achievement of students transferring to Mason from another academic institution and to encourage and promote the students’ involvement at Mason.”
The first induction ceremony took place on the Prince William Campus on Friday, May 1. Ronald Carmichael, the executive officer of the Prince William Campus, was the keynote speaker.
