President Alan Merten and Max Roberts, president of Barnes and Noble Bookstores, invite the university community to attend this afternoon’s grand re-opening reception of the newly renovated University Bookstore. The reception, held in the Johnson Center Atrium starting at 1:15 p.m., features the Mason Quartet. Refreshments will be served.
Barnes and Noble College Bookstores, Inc., was awarded the bookstore contract last spring. The three-year contract provides the option of two one-year renewals. The bookstore produces approximately $10 million in sales each year, with a projected average increase of 10 percent over the next two years. The new contract returns a minimum of $1 million annually to the university, providing funds to support scholarships, student programming and activities, and operating and maintenance support for facilities funded by student fees.
