Point in Space Gallery (“.”), a gallery run by Mason students in the City of Fairfax, will open an exhibition titled “An Alumni Show” on Thursday, April 2 with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m.

The exhibition, which runs through April 30, will feature the work of Mason art and visual technology (AVT) alumni. Curated by AVT undergraduate Shannon McCarty, the group exhibition brings together works using subject matter and process to investigate environments, relationships and technology.

The show provides insight into the creative postgraduate progression of Mason’s AVT alumni. Artists Christin Boggs, Adam Bradley, Mike Matason, Lisa McCarty, Jimmy McLean, Jill Pichocki, Jeff Sapsford, Susan Stacks and Charles Westerman demonstrate the vast possibilities in art making, with works across various types of medium and matter.

Started as a place for Mason students to gain professional exhibition experience, “.” is a grassroots alternative exhibition and gathering space for exchanging ideas. The space was generously donated by Kimco Realty and will be used to help build a bridge between Mason and the City of Fairfax.

The gallery is located at 3490 University Drive. The gallery is open only on weekends, and hours vary. For more information, e-mail McCarty or see pointinspacegallery.blogspot.com.
