Mikhail Gorbachev, former president of the Soviet Union and Nobel laureate, spoke at Mason on March 24 and 25 as part of a conference, “1989: Looking Back, Looking Forward,” that explored the historical implications of the end of the Cold War. Gorbachev presented his perspective on how the lessons of the end of the Cold War could be applied to promoting peace and international cooperation in the coming decades. He also participated in a roundtable discussion.
