University Career Services offers many resources and opportunities to Mason students, one of which is the Job and Internship Fair held each semester.
One out of five employers surveyed after last fall’s Job and Internship Fair hired a Mason student within one month, and 70 percent of employers surveyed recommended six or more students for a second interview.
This semester, Career Services has confirmed more than 160 employers for the Internship and Job Fair set for Wednesday, March 18, and Thursday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Johnson Center’s Dewberry Hall.
The fair is open only to Mason students and alumni. Faculty and staff members are encouraged to network with employers while students hunt for internships and jobs.
Employers from a variety of industries will be on campus seeking students from all majors for internships, cooperative education positions and full-time and part-time employment.
Career Services will also debut a new Student Resource Center at the fair to ensure students can access the information they need to make an impression even as the event is in progress. The center will provide laptops and books containing employer information specifically set aside for student use throughout the two days.
Mason faculty can also help their students by passing along these important tips:
- Research attending employers by using Patriot Job Web
- Bring copies of a critiqued resume to hand out
- Prepare a personal pitch and follow up questions
